Use Sulky thread for shinier satin stitching.

If your satin-stitched points on inside and outside corners need work, Patrick will show you how to make them perfect while creating the elements for a colorful fall tablescape. Then watch the last part with part 3 of this series on how to longarm quilt table runners.

  1. I have watched the two episode 1-2 to learn more on how to do Applique I have done it with embroidery machine doing the satin stitch for me.
I have the Quest Plus quilting machine and while watching how to do the applique, in the second Episode was interesting the only problem I was wondering is..what is the satin stitch set number that I use at to or that you used. It would helpful if I knew what to set the machine at. or there of.
I really like the material and the lovely colors and a project is all about Colors..Isn’t fabric wonderful, thanks for all your help in teaching me how to do applique. hope to test it out soon

    • Hi Jean – I always set my machine at 2.5mm stitch width and .2 stitch length (or the shortest you can go and stitch without getting stuck!). On projects with more curvy lines, I’ve used as low as a 1.5mm stitch width for smoother curves and easier turning.

I hope this helps and thanks, very much, for your comments!

      Cheers,
      Patrick
