Mimic Hand Stitching with the Sashiko Sewing Machine

Quilt Out Loud | Episode 105 | Nov. 2009-Week 2

Segment 3: Hand Stitching by Machine! Amid the hubbub of setup day at International Quilt Market, Jodie meets Kelly Laws at the Baby Lock booth to learn about an intriguing new machine she heard about. Using just one thread in the bobbin, the Sashiko machine mimics the look of hand sewing, like that of traditional Japanese hand stitching or hand quilting. Kelly puts the Sashiko machine through its paces.

Segment 4: After Hours at Quilt Market

Quilt Market doesn’t end when the show floor closes. Business moves to other locations. The place to be after hours during Quilt Market is the Hyatt bar, so Jodie and Patrick head there to see who they might run into. As they sat down with her, Heidi Kaisand, National Sales Manager for APQS (American professional Quilting Systems), was just getting her meal after traveling to Houston and then working all day to set up the booth—and it was after 9 PM! Designer and author Kay Caps Cross of Cross Cuts Quilting and the Fons & Porter team all chatted with Jodie and Patrick, telling them what they do on those long days at Market.

Head over to part 3 of this video series showing off some special finds at the quilt market.

  1. Dear Connie,
If you are not seeing the login buttin it’s up in the uppright corner. But if you are gettting invalid login creditial error code, then…

With the launching fo the new site, there are a few glitches to work out. Our technical team is working very diligently to get all of the data tranferred over correctly. Please be patient with us & give us at least a few more days to get everything worked out correctly. We intend on having everyone’s data converted by the end of this week.

One big hint though, that we are finding with others that have called in with this same problem, be sure that you are typing in the address bar http://www.qnntv.com & not linking thorugh a favorites or a bookmark. As that bookmark will take you to the old website, which is shut down now & will give you that invalid login creditial information. So, try that & if that doesn’t work then it is probably something on our end that we are asking you to be patient with us on.

    Thank you for your patience,
    Tiffiny Bond
