How to Make the Tie the Knot Quilt

Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting | 2000 | Episode 2012

A quilter’s fabric stash is usually stocked with 100% cotton fabric, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t make a quilt of something completely different. Marianne and Mary show you how to use a collection of neckties in a quilt. They demonstrate how to stabilize silk and silk-like fabrics and also how to make a string block from ties.

Tie the Knot was made by Colette Cogley and quilted by Sally Evanshank and is featured in Love of Quilting Nov/Dec ’12. Colette made this quilt using her father’s neckties for her sister as a wedding gift.
