Tips for Managing Fabric

| Quilty | 352

Watch this free video to learn tips for managing fabric. We look at ripping yardage (should you or shouldn’t you?), “squaring up” your edge, and how to always know you’re cutting with the grain. Remember safety first. When cutting close to your hand, use a glove.  For easy quilting tips and techniques visit and watch free Quilty episodes at and!

  2. I am now able to watch this. I guess I need to wait until Fridays for Quilty. This was a good video, particularly for beginners. I find cutting the remnants of a project into 2 1/2 inch strips gives me lots of choices when I decide to make a scrappy quilt.

  3. Wow, I just could NOT disagree more. Not the “ripping”, but “cutting it down to a manageable yardage” What, just two yards???? Oh please… iron it, fold it, put it with a like color. You NEVER know what you’ll do with it and you may need two whole yards!!!! This is so strange to me.

  4. Where can I get info on all those lovely quilts hung in the background of your videos? There are several I’d love to try to make. Are they mostly from Quilty magazine? Sorry if you answered this elsewhere.
