Let’s Talk Modern Quilting

The Quilters’ Community | Episode 69

Modern quilting is often identified by the use of solid fabrics, bright colors, improvisational piecing, intense as well as minimal quilting and negative space. And while a quilt may have a very modern aesthetic, some modern quilts are also very traditional in their construction. The modern quilt movement that has stormed the quilting world is being embraced by quilters of all ages and skill levels, regardless of their preferred quilt style. Editors from Quilters Newsletter, Quiltmaker and McCall’s Quilting share their views on modern quilting and showcase some fabulous modern quilts. To watch more quilting videos of the Quilters Newsletter TV visit QNNtv.com and QuiltersNewsletter.com.

  2. I like the fact that the laws have changed. Others are beginning to open up their minds to the new quilters of this time. I have made what everyone is calling modern quilts not meaning them to be in a category but just what I was feeling at the time of creating them. I think of dimensional quilts to be not of those that are traditional. Art quilts to me are modern. I love quilting because its a medium I can express with fabric that cant do on paper. Thank you for the show because I learn something new every single day I watch one of the shows on this wonderful website. Love the show and love QNNTV. because its the only show I can see a variety of shows for a great price thank you.
