My name is Susie Collett Brown. I live in Ohio. I feel so privileged to receive the MOM Award. I owe my passion for quilting to my late Grandmother, Katy Lewis. I lived about 300 miles from her. Whenever, I went to see her I would rarely leave without a quilt. We have a large family and my Aunt Susie (I am her namesake) and I are the only ones that have carried on the traditional quilting that we have inherited through my grandmother. My stimulus for quilting was excelled when my two granddaughters were born. I had to do something special for them. Then the rest is history. ;-) I feel these nominations make us a front and center group. Just can't beat nice quilters, for good food, love and wonderful tips.

The Flower Garden Quilt that I made for my granddaughter has a cute story. Victoria (age 6), came over one day and was sitting behind my sewing machine watching me make it. She said, " this is a beautiful quilt and it is so soft". Her birthday was very near. She didn't want ask me for the quilt. She said, Moma. I love this quilt and it would make a really nice gift for someone!" Well, my heart was overflowing. Yes she got the quilt! ;-) Is there any wonder that I couldn't give it to anyone else!?? ;-)

I have several pictures that I could have sent. I know that I am not the greatest quilter but I love doing it! My family never forgets me when they see the love that I put in each one of them. I have arthritis through out my body and spine. I cannot spend the time that I would like to quilting. My grandchildren wrap themselves into each one that I make for them.
