You do not have to download the full video file before playback begins, however.  Generally playback will begin after the first ten seconds have been downloaded.

If you do not have a high-speed internet connection (or if your network is being slowed down for any  number of reasons), this may cause the video to download slower than it is being played back.  When this occurs, you will experience what appears to be skipping or choppy video.

In this situation, the best way to experience smooth playback of the video is to pause video playback and allow time for the video to download before watching.  The two images below demonstrate this: in the first, the video is paused and approximately 30% of the video file has been downloaded.  By allowing the video to download this far before watching, you are likely to prevent the "skipping" and choppy playback you experienced before.  In the second image you can see the video playback marker is right at the end of the video information that has been downloaded and the video is playing back.  In this instance you will experience choppy and rough playback.

To watch the video with smooth play back, press the pause button (the two lines side by side) and wait. Pay attention to the lighter grey loading bar, when it reaches the end of the darker grey bar and turns back to the dark color, that means the video has finished loading onto your computer.



If the play back bar reaches the end of the light grey loading bar, the video will become choppy and will be difficult to watch.
