My name is Leslie Currie and I have been quilting for over 15 years. Because I’m a CPA, my time is very limited, so most of my quilting is done on evenings and weekends in the fall. My husband and I and our two miniature schnauzers live in Woodland, a small town in southwest Washington State.
I love learning different techniques; therefore I rarely make the same type of quilt more than once. I enjoy hand work as well as machine work, but have determined that I am not the best (or most patient) hand quilter around! This appliqué quilt is the only quilt that I actually totally hand quilted. It was one of the first quilts that I made. This is me and my dogs, Mollie and Maxine.
Early on, I also made a king size quilt for our bed and machine quilted it in the ditch. That’s when I discovered how hard it was to do that on a home machine! I have since had quilts that were quilted by someone else with the experience and proper equipment. It is held up by friend Chelsea, my niece Amy, my best friend Anita, and Bella, Anita’s dog.
My favorite part of quilting is when Amy and Chelsea come over on Friday and bring their quilts so that Anita and I can help them. It’s fun to see their enthusiasm! Several times a year we meet my sister Kathy in Puyallup Washington for the quilt and craft shows.
Here are a couple of quilt tops that I made several years ago and have not had quilted yet.
This quilt is the latest one I did. The dogs and I needed a quilt to cuddle under when we watch TV. It is made from Lorelie panels and fabrics.
I enjoy using the internet and one of my favorite sites is Quilters News Network. When I need some down time, I can watch the videos there for hours.
