MOM for December 2007
Congratulations to QNN's 8th Member Of the Month (MOM) winner:
Bobirley Adams
from Mesa, AZ
MOM for December 2007
I am a beginning quilter. I began quilting after watching QNNtv.com this year. Initially I started to watch Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting on my TV. But my local station quit showing their show so I went to their website and discovered QNNtv.com. I watch QNNtv.com as I do other things in my craft room and gradually it all seemed to make sense to me. I was never good in math in school and thought only math majors could make quilts but QNNtv.com has shown me that I can do these things even if I'm not a math major. The knowledge I've gotten from QNNtv.com has given me the confidence to complete my first quilt from a pattern. It is the Peek-a-Boo pattern that I got from Fons & Porter. This quilt is for my Granddaughter Keshia. Keshia has been involved in sports so I used my embroidery machine to embroider designs of girls participating in different sports and put the designs in the center of every other folded circle in the pattern. I'm very proud of my quilt because all of my circle/squares match and I do not have any holes. But I did do some things I'd do differently in my next quilt. I did not realize the peek-a-boo part was so small and some of my machine embroidered designs were too large and I had to compensate and "wiggle" the sides so that the designs would show when I sewed them down.
Thank you Bobirley and congratulations!
