- Sandy Chandler
Sandra Chandler had been a quilter over 20 years when she first tried to make a Double Wedding Ring quilt and became frustrated over the difficulty of sewing curved seams. So instead of quitting, she came up with a solution and invented the Curve Master Presser Foot! She realized that traditional presser feet force the sewer to manipulate fabric 1-2” away from the needle, but if we could get our ¼” sewing lines on top of each other right at the needle, everything should fit easily. So she worked with a sawed-off presser foot, added a seam guide flange to the side of this short foot, and voila! It worked!! Sandy was a managed healthcare executive for many years, but she happily left that career within five months of introducing the Curve Master Presser Foot at Houston Quilt Market in November 2002. She and husband Jim formed a marketing company, Just Curves, and she now devotes full time to demonstrating the Curve Master at various quilt shows all over the world, fulfilling teaching and speaking engagements, and designing and developing new quilt-related products such as acrylic templates for rotary cutting American quilt blocks with curves. A Hoosier now transplanted to Newport Beach, California, Sandy loves to put a modern spin on old American quilt patterns. For more information or to contact her, visit the Just Curves website at www.justcurves.biz and be sure to watch Sandy’s demonstrations on QNN.
