It's in the small fortified town of Brouage in Charente Maritime, dating back to the 17 th century that since 2001, every other year we can admire a superb exhibition of traditional style quilts, copies of works of the 19 th century and of the begining of the 20 th century; the site is wonderful and matches perfectly these works, not to say masterpieces, that find here a "casket" worthy of them, to use Dominique Husson's turn of phrase, the one who orchestrates this splendid and very expected event for the assiociation France Patchwork.
For that matter, this exhibition covers the front page of the magazine of the assiociation next June 2007, where we can find several articles and admire a great deal of photos of works shown this year with, in particular, some hexagon-based quilts amongst which:
"losanges de fleurs" by Dominique Husson ( 210 CM X 175 CM ) composed of 2 CM wide pieces
"Honey comb" by Marie-Francoise Gregoire (185 CM x 205 CM) in which you can count, if you feel up to, 9797 hexagons and a beautiful applique by MADY Francoise.
I let you admire the photos below, just to make you mouth water and make you want to visit Brouage in 2009 or to visit France Patchwork association's web site : http://francepatchwork.com and I thank its chairwoman Marie-Francine Brochard, as well as Dominique Husson for their friendly assistance.
